Kaushik Basu is Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, the World Bank Group. Prior to this, he served as Chief Economist of the Government of India and was C. Marks Professor of International Studies and Professor of Economics at Cornell University. He is a Fellow of the Econometrics Society and has been awarded India’s National Mahalanobia Memorial Award and the Padma Bhusan, India’s highest civilian award for “distinguished service of high order.”
