Clare Short is Chair of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Board, United Kingdom. In 1997 she became the first UK Secretary of State for International Development, where she played a key role in elevating the UK’s profile and budget for sustainable development and poverty elimination. Ms. Short has been a Member of Parliament, Shadow Minister for Women and Shadow Secretary of State for Transport. She is a member of the Advocacy Panel of Cities Alliance, a member of the Advisory Committee of International Lawyers for Africa and a Trustee of Africa Humanitarian Action.
