Eritrea: Country Assistance Evaluation |
Abstract: The objective of this Country Assistance Evaluation (CAE) is to review World Bank assistance to Eritrea from l992 to 2000 and assess its relevance, efficiency, efficacy, sustainability and impact. The evaluation was carried out by Operations Evaluation Department (OED) during 2001. The methodology consisted of a desk review of relevant files and literature and interviews with Bank headquarters staff, and a two-week field mission which included project visits and interviews with representatives of the Eritrean Government, the private sector, the non-governmental organizations (NGO) community, donors and resident World Bank staff. Quotations and comments attributed to Bank staff or Government officials are taken from interviews conducted during this evaluation period.
